Asking for an ID number is your school's choice, and it is off until you turn it on. When it is collected it is encrypted with a key that belongs to your school alone, and deleted when your retention period ends. Checking a visitor against your school's ban list uses a one-way fingerprint that cannot be turned back into an ID number.
